Beautiful large cameo in green leather case lined in velvet & satin, finely engraved c1860, 59mm x 43mm approx featuring three horses pulling a man in a chariot, a putti and eight robed women in the clouds. For sale is a large and spectacular circa 1875 Victorian gold gilded composition American picture frame. This frame would be perfect for a 19th century American landscape, a large map, a large old print, or a large antique or contemporary glass mirror. An original period frame like this is far superior to a reproduction frame. It is not very common to find a frame of this large size in such good condition. This frame is extremely sturdy and has nearly 98% of its original gilding with no major areas of gesso chipping or losses. It features a gilded pattern of leafy and flur di lis type pattern work with an outer banding of leaves berries grains and nut motifs. Condition: Very good for age. One 1 1/2 gesso chip(see pic). Gilt wear one edge corner(see pic). NOTE: This is a large and heavy picture frame. Frame – 45 1/2 x 33 3/4. Rabbet – 37 1/4 x 25 1/2. Sight – 36 1/4 x 25. Rabbet depth – 1/2. Molding width – 4 1/2.
