This a very large antique Regency or early Victorian decorative convex mirror with reeded ebony/ebonised inner border, with a beaded edge to the golf leaf frame, with multiple ball decoration and decorative outer border. Often called butler’s mirrors as they were used by butlers in large houses to keep a discreet eye on the dining room. Diameter approx 23.7/8 (60.5cm). Depth 2.7/8 (7.5cm). Condition – overall very good, in country house condition but with a small patch of degraded silvering to one edge, minor chips to outer edge and some of the wood & gesso balls have been re-touched with gold pigment – not very noticeable in a domestic setting – see photos or ask questions. Very heavy – weighs approx 9-10kg packed. Because of the size and weight this has to be sent by courier. PLEASE DO NOT PAY UNTIL I HAVE SENT YOU AN INVOICE. This may not be mentioned in the description but any damage we feel to be significant will be mentioned in the description and or shown in the.
