Here is an antique late Georgian early Victorian intaglio seal matrix pendant fob. A nice looking fob, the base is rectangular in form with cut off corners, it has a red Carnelian stone which has been carved with a livery crest above monogram initials. The livery is a half horse half dragon? Holding a ball or orb. Possibly portraying a sea horse or similar sea creature. The initials look like JMHC. The seal is very ornate with rococo and groove decoration with a split handle, the bale is cylindrical with a small ball finial on top. The back of the seal is enclosed to cover the back of the Carnelian. The gold is a rose gold in colour, and is a good thickness of rolled gold. It measures approx 34mm in height, the base measures approx 24mm x 20mm. It weighs approx 15.5 grams. It is in good overall condition with some age and use wear in the form of rubbing to the rolled gold on the base of the fob only showing brass underneath, the rest of the seal has no wear to the gold. The intaglio Carnelian is good. The bale needs a clean, it has a bit of muck inside. If you are into fob seals then this is a nice one and a will make good researching if you want to.
